download the compiled application here. You will need a jailbroken iPhone to copy it to your device.
Now this is annoying. We just got a response from apple. They refused to add d_effekt's app iUnlock to the store. According to apple, the app "...cannot be added to the App Store because it uses standard iPhone screen images in a non-standard way, potentially resulting in user confusion..." Well yes, of course it confuses users! That was the whole idea of this thing. I mean it's a practical joke, that may or may not be funny to you, but it sure won't hurt anybody and won't break any phones. I understand some of apple's decision of censoring, like not allowing flash or back door accessing to the camera. Because that's a technical decision in favor of every app running smoothly and not crashing your phone. I don't really agree, but I can live with that.
But apparently apple's actively censoring content as well, and that is simply not right! These damned phones cost a fortune and now the manufacturer is telling me, that they will decide what I am allowed to install on it.
OK, I admit the use of internal graphical elements may be difficult because of copyright claims or whatsoever. But come on! Steve and all the people that make the work for you, so that you look good at your funky presentations. You're all about having fun, aren't you? You're like the guy next door, who invites me over for a beer. But apparently as soon as I'd get there you'd be all like: "Hey you now what? I just realized beer isn't good for you, it will make you fat and staying up so late, it will be hard for you to get up in the morning. I just want the best for you, you know?", while he's actually thinking: "Man, I gota get rid of this guy, before he starts peeing all over my front yard!"
I wish the people using apple products would acknowledge that apple is only providing hardware and a framework. That's it. It's not apple that makes apple interesting but the people developing software. They push this technology to new areas and they deserve the main focus and we're dependent on them. Because nowadays you can easily replace the iphone with other devices, I just stick with it, because I have one and because most apps i like are based on their framework only. As soon as there's a movement to another more open platform, I'd be glad to join in and finally develop applications everyone can use, not only owners of jailbroken phones.

this is the reason i got rid of my iphone and grabbed an n900. it can be clunky as hell, and apps in development occasionally fall over. but it was my decision to install them so i live with it :)
